Prof. Dr. Marko Herrmann
Head of the research group (1) Ecology Benthic Tropical, member of the research groups (2) Fishing and Assessment Fisheries of Tropical Resources and (3) Monitoring Network of Benthic Coastal Habitats. Currently teaching and researching as professor of the (1) postgraduate program Aquaculture and Tropical Aquatic Resources and the undergraduate courses (2) Fishing Engineering and (3) Environmental Engineering and Renewable Energy at the Federal Rural University of Amazonia (UFRA).
As Advanced European Scientific Diver he has experience in the area of ecology, with emphasis on ecology of aquatic ecosystems, acting on the following topics: macrozoobenthic communities, population dynamics of invertebrates (especially shellfish), ecosystem ecology (mainly sandy beaches) and aquaculture. He has many years of international experience, especially in the polar region and in South America, lately engaged in the following lines of research: ecology and cultivation of mangrove oysters, diversity and ecology of marine benthic macroinvertebrates, estuarine and freshwater and diversity and ecology of marine bivalves and Amazonian freshwater and its fauna.
